Before we begin, a quick intro:

in the spirit of being open and honest with you, i’ll admit that I don’t live my life with a nice camera hanging around my neck; in truth, I find it quite tedius to lug around and it’s certainly not a part of my daily habit.

There is no denying the high technical quality that an expensive lens and body gifts to its user. But regardless of my equipment preparedness, the world continually provides picturesque landscapes, whether it be swiss alps or trash on the floor. the ease (and frequency) in which i can photograph with my trusty (and dusty) iphone 11 has given my eyes good practice in discovering visually appealing and un-thought-of compositions amongst my otherwise regular daily life.  If I’m being REALLY open and honest, I think a lot of images get away with a preceived notion of skill or depth just because of its high quality. Yes, if i carried a camera, I’m sure the “value” of my work may increase in terms of resale-ability, but I would not want to lose the challenge of considering a composiiton for what it is, what I see right in front of me. Regardless of quality, shapes, colors, texture and the harmony between them is what invigorates me, thus taking the phone out of my pocket and clicking on that little circle over and over. Life, and its beautiful moments, happen all too quickly- I’m sure you already know. Why not capture it.

In a similar vain, I’ve created @jjeezlouiise to house some of my lazier efforts; ones where I reached for my iPhone rather than my Nikon. As someone who has struggled with the concept of perfection and obsessed over the idea of creating something that is “perfect” (which does not exist, by the way), this space is meant to alivated myself from such expectations: thus praising the phrase “Low stakes.” In removing these stakes, I feel much more free to experiment, to flop, to discover little bits of wonder that get me excited. In hopes that this vulnerability makes me relatable and likeable (differentiaing myself against others, etc.), I share this bit of non sense with you and maybe you’ll enjoy at least one smidge of it.

Cheers!
